The Process:

How did the concept for Zom-Jong come together?

In January of 2025, we held a writer’s room to find our next story to produce. The writer’s room consisted of 7 community members. Everyone gave out ideas, and the room started piecing together some stories. They were dialed down to two. The room was split in half, and one group expanded on one story, and the other half on the second. In the end, the writer’s room voted for Zom-Jong! After the writer’s room concluded, director Wade Wofford wrote the script with writer’s room member (and locations manager) Sylas Bento.

What did the pre-production process look like?

Pre-production starts with the writer’s room (above). After we have the idea fleshed out, the script is written. From January to October, lots and lots of pre-production happens. Creating the storyboard, finding community members who want to join our crew, training crew members, finding our actors, locations, props, and catering for when we’re on set, etc.

How many people were involved in the making of Zom-Jong?

In total, 48 people were involved in the making of Zom-Jong.

How many days of filming were there?

In total, 7 days, but it was only meant to be filmed across one weekend. We started filming on October 2nd, completed a full day of filming on the 3rd, but came to a halt on the 4th. There was a small medical emergency on set, and the unusual October heat wasn’t making filming any easier for our cast & crew. We felt defeated-we thought we’d have to scrap the project altogether. After a beautiful moment of our community banding together, we all agreed to complete filming in mid-November (this time in the freezing cold!)

How did you get so many actors to play zombies?

Most of our zombie actors were actually crew members! During pre-production, we asked all of our crew members if they’d be willing to play a zombie or corpse. In total, 12 of our crew members played as zombies, and other small roles were filled by family and friends of the crew.

How long did it take to produce Zom-Jong?

Zom-Jong is now in post-production! We ended filming in mid-November, and are now editing, color correcting, working on sound design, etc. Zom-Jong will have a spring release, so it takes a little over a year to a year and a half to produce a Singing Bridge short film.

Can I get involved in the next film?

Yes! We’re always looking for community members to join! Click the button to get involved in Singing Bridge’s next production.
